David Desforges

Environmental Law

Of counsel, David is a well-respected expert in environmental law as counsel, transactional lawyer, and litigator.

He works primarily on behalf of industrial companies and private equity firms. His skills cover the traditional sectors of environmental law from both a regulatory and operational perspective.  His practice also covers regulated industries, notably in terms of security and compliance when involving the placing of professional products on the market (GMO, chemical products, phytosanitary products) or of household products covered by the extended producer responsibility scheme.

Following the evolution of environmental law, his expertise now extends to the handling of issues in relation with the fight against global warming, circular economy requirements, and environmental and social governance (ESG).

David has over twenty-five years of experience in his chosen fields. From 1995, at Gide Loyrette Nouel in Paris as an associate, then from 2005 to 2010 as the partner in charge of the environment practice, followed by three years at Jones Day also in Paris. Over the past 15 years, David has been consistently listed yearly in the Legal 500, Chambers & Partners and Who’s Who Legal Environment/Lexology rankings, and since its creation, in the Best Lawyers guide.

He graduated from the Institut d’Etudes Politiques in Paris (Public Service Section) (summa cum laude), holds a Master of Laws degree (LLM) from the Faculty of Law from Northwestern University (Chicago), a graduate certificate degree from the School of Public Services at DePaul University (Chicago), and a Master’s Degree in Public Law and Economics from the University of Paris II Assas.
